This debate was organised by the Debate club Ndejje SSS and funded by the school Administration. It took place on Friday 3rd November 2016 in the school main Library. The topic of the debate was “This house believes that the recently concluded elections were an exact definition of tyranny”. Teachers were represented by Mr. Sserwanga Moses and Mr. Kahukahu Jackson and they were opposing the motion. The the students were represented by the members of the debate club.
It was indeed a hot debate that each side done its best in delivering relevant examples which made the session interesting. The research which was well done by the teachers on that same motion awarded them a victory over students. On that note we thank all the teams for the effective participation which was shown.
The major purpose of this debate was to bridge the gap between students and teachers hence creating a mutual relationship between the two parties. It also helped students to improve on their debating skills by copying from their mentors hence gaining a lot. Then also personal communication skills were learnt such as the use of Verbal communication, Non-verbal communication, Listening skills, Negotiation skills, Problem-solving, Decision-making and Assertiveness.
We therefore thank the Debaters Club for organizing a wonderful success event.
