The 5th edition of the EADC was hosted by Uganda at St. Henry’s college Kitovu. The tournament was organized by Writing our World as main hosts, and Idebate Rwanda. Two countries participated i.e. Uganda and Rwanda. Nevertheless, 19 schools from Uganda with 21 teams and 4 schools from Rwanda with 9 teams competed for the EADC 2017 crown.
The Ugandan schools were selected basing on performance during the regional debate tournaments. It was a tight competition that saw students debate an array of issues regarding the East African Community and the EAC integration process. The EADC tournament had 4 preliminary rounds in which all the selected schools participated. After these, the top 16 teams qualified for the knockout rounds, starting with the Octofinals to the Finals, the winner of which was crowned East African Champion 2017. St. Katherine Secondary School 19. Mentor Secondary School (RWANDA SCHOOLS) 1. Greenhills Academy 2. Lycee Notre Dame De Citaux 3. Agahozo Shalom Youth village 4. Lycee De Kigali.
Ndejje SSS we managed to reach the quarter finals and one of our own student Namaganda Immaculate emerged the best Speaker of the tournament. We were also privileged Bukenya Shadrack Mulindwa our student also emerged the third best speaker.
