Chemistry Department

Mission: "To provide theory and practical skills to all students based on National Curriculum Development Centre"

Staff:

The staff comprises of seven members of teaching staff, one technical and one laboratory assistant. Majority of teacher both O and A level

Facilities:

The department owns one senior and one junior laboratories. The junior lab and senior labs make part of O and A level quadrangles respectively.

Both labs are equipped with adequate equipment and chemical reagents. Other auxiliary facilities include a water distiller, fire extinguisher, water and gas systems

Labs serve as practical centres as well as teaching space for about 900 students who offer chemistry subject

The departmental Head Mr. Matsiko Esau is also in charge of chemistry club. The club has a membership of 300 students from both levels. Club members carry out community work as well as academic work, for instance, they keep flower gardens around the labs clean, manage the compost pit and the boys end, organize science exhibitions, and arrange annually external study tours to major industrial areas in Uganda.
